Short-term rentals in Fez: the riad, room by room.
In the medina, cars stop at the gates and riads are let by the room; in the Ville Nouvelle, apartments are more the norm. Fez hosted AFCON 2025 matches, is among the host cities for the 2030 World Cup and holds the Festival of World Sacred Music, from 4 to 7 June in 2026. RentDari keeps track of every room, every arrival and every team.
What Fez asks of a riad, and how RentDari answers.
The situations we see in almost every riad and guesthouse in the medina.
You let five rooms around a courtyard, but your tool only knows whole properties.
The petit taxi stops at Bab Boujloud or R’cif, and your guests search for the riad in the derbs.
Passports are copied out in the riad’s salon while the tea goes cold.
Breakfast on the roof terrace, rooms to make up, linen to the laundry: the morning team hears it by word of mouth.
The June festival, holidays, match dates: some weeks sell fast, others drag.
Each room has its own calendar, rate and capacity, synced separately with Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia; the riad keeps its overall view.
Before arrival, the welcome book sends directions from the gate, a photo of the entrance and the number of the person coming to meet them.
Online check-in collects ID, contact details and fellow guests before arrival, ready for the police registration form (fiche de police).
Each job becomes a task linked to the stay, assigned to the right person and ticked off from a phone.
Your rates are set by period and by room, with a specific price on the dates that matter, and go out to your channels without re-entering anything.
From breakfast to the last arrival.
The team opens today’s tasks on their phone: breakfasts, morning check-outs, rooms to make up.
Each check-out creates its cleaning task; once it is ticked off, you know the room is ready for the next guest.
Directions, a photo of the entrance and a contact arrived with the welcome book, and everyone’s ID is already collected.
The modules Fez riads open the most.
All thirteen modules are included in every plan. These are the ones that matter most here.
Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia synced room by room, both ways.
Directions from the medina gate, a photo of the entrance, the WiFi and your favourite spots, in one link.
IDs and fellow guests collected before arrival, for the guest declaration.
Breakfasts, rooms and linen assigned to the team and ticked off from a phone.
A price per room and per period, festival dates included, sent to your channels.
Your Airbnb and Booking.com reviews gathered by property, with replies posted without switching apps.
Questions from Fez hosts
Rooms, licensing, guest declarations, tourist tax and the festival.
Write to us from the contact page — an answer within 24 business hours, in English, French, Arabic or Spanish.
My riad’s rooms are all different sizes: can each have its own price?
Yes. Each room has its own calendar, rate and capacity, and each syncs separately with your channels. The terrace suite and the small courtyard room no longer sell at the same price, and the riad keeps its overall view.
Do I need a licence to run a riad in Fez?
Yes. Riads and guesthouses are categories under law 80-14: the operating licence is applied for through the Regional Investment Centre and issued by the governor, after provisional classification and insurance. Operating without a licence carries a fine of 50,000 to 500,000 MAD.
My riad is licensed: how does the guest declaration work?
Licensed establishments declare their guests electronically on the day of arrival and keep each signed individual registration form for a year; the STDN platform (stdn.ma), launched in 2019 by the Tourism and Interior ministries, the DGSN and the Gendarmerie, serves accommodation professionals. Failing to declare is punishable by one to six months in prison and/or a fine of 50,000 to 100,000 MAD. RentDari collects every guest’s ID before arrival; filing the declaration is up to you. Our guide to the fiche de police, on the blog, walks through the process.
What tourist tax applies to a riad or guesthouse in Fez?
Law 47-06 sets, per person per night, 10 to 25 MAD for riads and 15 to 30 MAD for guesthouses, with children under 12 exempt; the exact rate is set by the municipality. You collect it, show it on the invoice and pay it over every quarter. RentDari keeps the nights and the number of guests for each stay; our guide to the tourist tax, on the blog, walks through the calculation.
When is the Festival of World Sacred Music?
In 2026, from 4 to 7 June; the month changes from one edition to the next (it was September in 2023). As soon as the dates are announced, set a rate and a minimum stay for each room: they go out to all your channels.
